This page features something unique. I began painting on freshwater mussel shells from the Tennessee River in 1999. I have been a mussel diver for many years as well as an artist, and my mother suggested I try painting on some of the larger shells. The natural mother-of-pearl colors of the shells really ad to the beauty of the pieces. I usually paint local wildlife and hunting scenes on the shells but have done commission work of just about every subject. I mount the shells on Tn River driftwood so they will stand alone and this ads further beauty and uniqueness to the piece. I have sold hundreds locally and at craft shows. These are basically three dimensional works of art. More art here http://frizz-art.deviantart.com/ Diving blog: http://www.tennesseeshelldivers.weebly.com.
